EYES
Types of Eyes based on crease and shapes
Each person have different eye types, shapes and different eye crease. Crease is the line in between the brow bone and the eye ball socket. The fold in between is the eye crease. There are several types of eye crease depending on the eyes. Eye shapes are the whole eye look, almond eyes can be deep set hooded or prominent, they can be close set, wide set or evenly spaced. Here are the list of different eye types based on crease position.
Deep- set eyes - these are eyes which has a depth in between the brow bone and the crease. Making it look like the eye lids are hidden farther back near the brow bone. As you can see from both picture, their eyes are pushed back to the brow bone, you can see that the main lids seems to be hidden and only the base of the lash like is visible. This eyes are common for most caucasian race. Lighter shadows make eyes look prominent. Dark shadows tends to push eyes back and make it looks more deep and set back. You can still use dark shadows, by applying it closer to the lash line than applying it to the whole of the lids.
Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock and Hayden Panettiere are some actress that have deep-set eyes.
Average to medium lids - these are people with naturally defined lids. It varies from to broad or just the average lid visible in between the brow bone and the eye crease. It would be easier to put an make up on this type of eye because enough space is prominent to give the eyes more colors and appearance. They can put any shade from light to dark depending on how they want their eyes to appear. As seen on the picture, Angelina Jolie is one of the actress with prominent lids as well as Leighton Meester - love her eyes!
Thin lids - eyes are in between average or monolids, I guess I have thin lids. This is most common to asian eyes too, but some caucasians have it at well. The goal is to create depth for the crease to be visible and to appear more prominent. Multiple shadow layering is necessary. With makeup application, same as the diagram of the eye in here, most of the time dark shades should only be placed in outer corner. Famous celebrities like Keira Knigthly, Hillary Duff and Selena Gomez got this type of lid.
Hooded lids/eyes - also known as doe or droopy eyes.Common to almost all races. This can either be inborn or due to age. It is when the eyelid is overlaps your crease or the eye socket. When eyeshadow is applied, the hood of the eye covers it thus the makeup has no effect. You can create depth by applying darker color about the hood of the lid and lighter tone under. Sweep a lighter shadow on the brow bone and the corner of the eye for more prominent eyes. Uper lash line should be lined.Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have hooded lids.
Monolid - Asian eyes - This is an eye that doesn't have a fold or crease. It is very common to asian race thus it is often called as asian eyes. It takes proper blending and mix match of shadows to make this type of eye prominent. lighter shades should be applied in the inner corner of the eye and medium to dark shades for the outer corner to create depth or dimension. Lining the upper lash line for monolid is advisable even if you cannot see it, it still shows up eventually when you look down, it has to be applied as close as possible to the lash line. Too much eyeliner may close the eyes more.Nowadays you can fake the crease for monolids by applying a double eyelid tape. We all know Lucy Liu is one of the Hollywood celebs that has monolid eyes.
Protruding/Bulging eyes - these eye looks big and round, lids are extended further than brow bone. These eyes are set far forward in the face making it more prominent feature. It is the opposite of deep set eyes were in lids and sockets are pushed back. The goal is to set back the eyes and lid and make it look fixed, flat and sleek so that it would look proportion to the face. Drawing a fairly think line all the way across the lop lash line with black or dark brown liner will make it look sleek and elongated. Shadows needs to be used are medium to dark. Darker shades tend to cause the eyes to look more deep and sunken and will disguise any protruding or bulging eyes. Do not use light shadows to the whole lid since it only accentuates and highligh the big eyes. Christina Ricci is the most famous celeb with protruding/bulging eyes. Zooey Deschanel and Katie Perry have prominent eyes as well.
